It all started with a fun tutorial from Amber, that led me to spread my wings on a design of my own to add to the set. Love this color combination so much!

In this tutorial, Amber provides a template to make the lace component of the jar, and in another, previous tutorial she shares the template to make the buttons. Then, it is a matter of flooding, piping, and adding the final details.

To add the lace design, I followed Amber’s advice and used a scribe tool instead of a food safe pen. It works better, and there is no risk of any shadowing in case the Royal icing fails to completely cover some of the sketch.

Inspired by the design, I made three additional cookies, and pushed myself to go the extra mile by piping a grid…

I am quite in love with this set, I think they work well together, and of course, it was good to try something on my own.

If you are into cookie decorating, consider joining Amber’s club and also buying her books. I reviewed her latest one, Cookie Canvas, and you can read about in this post from 2019).

Buttons and lace and pretty, pretty colours . . . I truly am wondering whether those black-and-white four-leggeds sit there jealous of the time Mom is piping and spreading and piping and looking and . . . we wanna go for a ramble . . .?
