Have you heard of Your Baking Bestie? Definitely pay a visit to Ericka’s site if you are into cookie baking and decorating (click here). Her website is a huge source of recipes and decorating ideas, plus she also hosts a closed Facebook group with almost 40k members, who share their cookies and ask questions. Very supportive virtual spot. Recently I bought her online class on Poppies and had a wonderful time decorating this set. I hope you like them too!

As usual, I don’t share details of paid decorating classes, so I’ll just share some of the steps. I love the method she taught to make the basket (different from anything I’ve done before), and the very detailed and careful explanation on how to pipe the poppies. Since you will be piping MANY for the basket, once you are done with the class, you can pipe poppies in your sleep, with one hand tied behind your back! Honest!

The only cookie I had some issues with was the hat. I cut it by hand and should have been more careful planning the different sections. It was ok in the end, but not early as nice as the one Ericka made in the class to demonstrate it. Hers was absolute perfection… Below, my favorites of the class…

I was so excited about piping poppies that I made some extra cookies to practice the technique a bit more.

.

Ericka, thank you for a wonderful class, and for hosting the Facebook page, I love it!

Wonderful to see you having so much fun learning new methods and getting such beautiful results 🙂 ! Love the basket and methinks you did actually did a fine ‘job’ with the hat. Lucky recipients 🙂 !

yeah, but honestly, her hat was something else! sometimes it is difficult for me to do the decorating along without seeing “the big picture” – if I did it again, I know I would do better, but it’s also hard for me to repeat things, I tend to go to the next adventure!!!! But I might re-visit the hat in the future, maybe with different color schemes just for fun

I used tip 101S – I believe it is the smallest of that kind, but maybe PME has even smaller? Still it worked great…
