I’ve said before but I must say it again, I absolutely LOVE making cookies for a special friend. This set went to Jill, someone I have not had a chance to meet in real life yet, but who has been part of my virtual circle of friends for a spectacularly long time. I love to torture her with puns. Maybe you don’t know this side of me, but I love me a great pun. Or a bad one. Jill doesn’t, to put it mildly. So to compensate for all the puns I inflict on her on a regular basis, she got cookies. Halloween-themed. Because she adores all things Halloween almost as much as she hates puns…

This set could go under the category “Halloween Gone Wrong”. The poor guy got a severe beating, and the witches failed to negotiate a tree. Had too much moonshine, maybe. So let’s start with….
THE DROOPY-EYED ZOOMBIE

Lots of cookie decorators have been making this design, which comes from a FANTASTIC cookbook called Spookie Cookies by Karen Thi. In the book you will find the template to cut the large cookie by hand, and to make the Royal icing transfers for the eyes. It is a simple design, but so incredibly realistic, I adore this one…

Witches After Moonshine

I won’t sugar coat the pill, this is a more involved design, as you will have to make the witches as Royal icing transfers, through very delicate piping and you’ll also need to offer your soul to The Devil so that the transfers won’t break as you remove them from the parchment paper. Apparently he finds my soul super attractive.

Design idea and template for transfers are from Your Baking Bestie.

HALLOWEEN TIC-TAC-TOE

Cookie cutter set from Flour Box, available here. I change things around a bit, instead of making little white ghosts for one of the pieces, I went with bats of two different colors, because I know Jill loves bats.
RESTING IN PIECES

His name is Fred… Very simple design, the only problem is that the cookies are big but fragile, Thankfully, they did not break during shipment. Several places sell this type of cookies, mine is from Brighton Cutters.
HALLOWEEN HEARTS

These were all inspired by AI-generated images, but I turned them into real cookies. I sent this picture to some friends and family members and asked them to vote on their favorite. Here’s the winner:

I hope Jill will have fun with the cookies, and that they will help her forgive me for all the juicy puns already lining up…
