The basic design comes from Amber Spiegel of SweetAmbs. She used white background and dark blue for the swirls, to mimic ceramic plates, with a beautiful wet-on-wet rose in the center. I adapted her idea to include a central detail made in fondant. It is a very easy technique but so effective! Perfect if you need a batch of elegant looking cookies that don’t demand a ton of your time and energy.

On her cookie club, Amber demonstrates the technique with a video tutorial. Basically you flood a round cookie and add dots, connecting them to form hearts going in opposite directions. I added a fondant piece in the center and painted the edge with luster gold + vodka.

Same exact technique, same central fondant piece. I painted the edge with rose gold luster powder, not very evident in the photo.

Flooded with yellow, adding wet-on-wet swirls with orange. A little fondant pumpkin closed the deal!

I am really in love with this simple method, that can be adapted for endless color combinations. Of course, you can change the central design to match the occasion. Butterflies, stars, hearts, daisies, bunny heads… Cute and elegant at the same time.
