Last month Haniela released a new tutorial that once again went straight to my heart. I could not wait to try it. Her design was a lot more complex because she piped flowers as Royal icing transfers. I opted to make sunflowers out of fondant instead, and ended up turning the cookies into a full set celebrating the state flower of Kansas. The terrazzo technique is super cool, Haniela did it as a wet-on-wet. Check her video visiting her Patreon site (click here).
Below some steps of the decoration. Whenever I do hexagons, I like to make seven because they can be arranged in a nice way, with one at the center and all the others around it. The tiles of the terrazzo design are piped over white icing, you need to work reasonably fast, but it is totally doable.
Once that base sets, details are added with stiff consistency icing and a special tip to pipe basket-weave designs (like these). The fondant decoration goes on, a little golden and diamond dust, and you are done!
To make a sunflower celebration set, I added a couple more designs. Below, a stencil was used to brush royal icing over the same base color. And large fondant pieces for the sunflowers.
