This was a project that I made for a family member, a customized set of cookies for a Birthday lady who loves all things blue. The idea was to re-visit a design from my past, back in the good old days when Marlyn was sharing tutorials online. Check out the original version here. I used the basic shapes from the box, but added additional smaller cookies that could be served at the party on a separate platter. Here is the outcome, keep reading for the details…
It all starts by baking all the different shapes, using crumbled parchment paper to add texture to the piece representing the paper bag, and air-brushing the pieces that fill the empty space of the base of the box.
Next step is to plan the decorations of all the small pieces that go together in the box, as well as the additional cookies. Flowers and hearts were the basic choices.
Not all pieces are designed to go in the box, otherwise it would be too crowded. But the person on the receiving end would be able to pick and choose what to include. One idea is shown in the progressive composite below.
I absolutely loved making this set, the flower pieces can obviously stand on their own, independent of the box.
Maybe blue is not the color of choice to decorate hearts, but after making this set, I am definitely embracing this vibe…
