Inspiration for this composition came from a photo I saw on Instagram quite a while ago. However, my version ended up quite a bit different. The original was similar to Linzer cookies, no Royal icing was involved. Without further ado, here is my gift box, made of simple shapes joined together.

It all started by baking all the different components. I actually made two different variations for the top, one with bigger hearts made as textured cookies, and the other smaller, to be iced in pink and green. The small squares got a little design of the small heart or flower imprinted before baking.

Once all the pieces were baked, I joined them together. Before the final decorating I used a Microplane where needed to straighten the edges.

Next step is icing each piece, and deciding which top decoration will be the favorite…
The central image was painted with luster powder + vodka.

The textured components were sprayed with PME bronze luster, for a festive look…
And that is my final piece…

This could be very nice for Christmas, using red and green and perhaps different images in the center, such as snowflakes and Christmas trees. I definitely plan on that materializing in December…
