These are all my own design, what ties them together is the color motif, butterflies and love. I honestly did not know where I was going when I started decorating, things just seemed to happen smoothly. One color after the other, a little stencil, a little fine line piping. It was also not something I did on purpose, but they ended up with the colors of the Brazilian flag: green, yellow, blue and white. I am more than happy with it…

After baking the cookies, it is time to face a bit of fine line piping so that flooding the colors later will be much easier.

Once that step is done, the real fun begins, choosing the colors that go in each section, and making sure to pipe the areas that do not touch first, so that the contact between different colors stays real sharp.

After all areas are flooded, I waited several hours to add small details with white piping consistency icing, and the golden butterfly made in fondant. The square cookies were made by first flooding the white area, waiting 8 hours, and stenciling tiny dots in blue. After that the central heart was flooded.

For the quilts, I went with two different options for details, one of them simpler, just straight lines, the other wth a stitched finish. I think I prefer the more austere without the stitched component, but I am happy with both.

I hope you liked this set, it does have a Spring vibe to it, but the Southern hemisphere is actually firmly headed towards Spring and Summer, so it is all a matter of perspective, even in the cookie universe…

Well, I have glorious spring afternoon sunshine streaming in thru’ the patio door . . . held up your butterflies up to it . . . and I think they fluttered their wings and nodded their heads . . . beautifully done, Sally! Love the elegant colours and the dainty ladies especially . . .
