TEA PARTY TIME

TODAY IS OUR 25th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!

We’ve been over the tea cups and pots (check the post here), but no tea party can be complete without a few sweets…. I suggest cake and macarons.

Nothing really complicated in the macarons, a little bit of fine line piping for the three layer cake, and a tiny fondant decoration for the rose on top, which of course is optional. You can always add a white pearl from a store-bought sprinkle thing.

For the macarons, I used this cutter from etsy. Then you pipe the two lines that will end up as the “feet”, and immediately cover it with sanding sugar. White is fine, for a subtle sparkly finish.

Once that part is done, you don’t need to wait that long, just a few minutes. Flood the top and bottom, and flood the cake with the color of your choice.

Now all you need to do it the final steps: add the filling for the macarons with thick consistency white icing and a star tip like a Wilton #20. And add the fine lines and sprinkles to the cake.

I sprayed a little PME luster pearl on the cake, but that step if also optional. You could also just use a pump with Diamond dust, or leave it plain. Your cookies, your choice!

It is not easy to get pastel tones, sometimes it gets too dark very quickly – particularly with blue – but this time all worked fine!

To you and Phil my most warm and caring good wishes on your 25th wedding anniversary! May the days and weeks and months and years to come be filled with all the feelings and more which have made you the couple you are. All my love is crossing the Ocean . . . methinks cakes and other things sweet can stay aside for the day . . .
