Pysanky Eggs are traditional from Ukraine. A very elaborate art involving dyeing eggs, covering layers of the dyes with beeswax, washing the colors away, building very complex and beautiful images. Recently Haniela shared a tutorial to make several different cookies inspired by the Ukrainian art (click here to watch it), and I attempted to make a few of those. Some were a bit too hard for me, I might re-visit them in the future. I also played with the concept on my own later, so without further ado, here are the results of my labor…

To make the two cookies from the top row, left and right, Haniela used a stencil and air-brushing. She provided the templates and I used my Cricut to make them. The ones at the bottom are pretty much piping the lines and filling each little section with two contrasting colors. I am absolutely in love with this design! Some steps are shown below.

A little more piping and the cookies are ready to shine!

But my favorite of this set is this one:

From that point I was quite hooked on geometric adventures with the egg shape. Here are some I made on my own…

And a slightly different take that is fun and not hard at all… I was using up leftover Royal icing from different projects and kind of went a bit crazy with the color combinations…

Finally, a design inspired by something I saw on Pinterest… a little labor-intensive but worth the trouble…

Easter is almost here, so I hope you’ll get inspired to make some cookies that celebrate the occasion… Once again, a huge thank you to Haniela for the constant source of inspiration.

Thank you AGAIN for my afternoon smile – as the autumnal sun goes down your beauty comes in 🙂 ! I hate to think how long the Pinterest suggested one took to finish ! Yes, the Ukrainian ones are lovely but I actually love the end ones where you showed your colours for the hour and the day !!!
