I was inspired by cookies I saw on Pinterest and decided to improvise my way to bring them to life in my kitchen. I love the idea and envision other designs in the future exploring the blue jean pocket.

One of the things I loved about this design is the stem of the flower inside, subtle presence that makes it super cute and more real.

First I flooded oval cookies with blue, let that fully set (overnight), then made a template for the pocket with a piece of paper.

Next I outlined the pocket with a food-safe pen…

Then, it was time to pipe the pocket and the area where the stem would be, hidden inside…

That needs to set for 30 minutes or so, and you can flood the pocket, covering the stem.

A little more time needed for that area to set. No need to fully set, but it is best to give it a couple of hours. Pipe petals in stages, using thick consistency white icing. I used a tipless piping bag, nothing fancy.

Add the centers of the flowers, the details of the pockets, and you are DONE!

Haniela has a cute design of a bunny rabbit with a carrot sticking out of its pocket. I think it would work well in this type of cookie also, so stay tuned!
