VALENTINE’S BOX OF COOKIES

How about offering that special someone a box of cookies made of…. cookies! The whole design was conceived by Tunde Dugantsi, and shared in her club earlier this month. I jumped on it and had a blast putting the pieces together. The tiny heart cookies are fun to decorate and you can do pretty much anything you like, although I went with her goal which was basically a wet-on-wet method for all of them. Simple and effective.

To make this set you’ll need a series of heart-shaped cookie cutters with the exact same shape but different sizes. Many sets are available, mine is similar to this one, I don’t remember where I got it from, it’s been many years. Tunde’s tutorial is super detailed and you will have no issues following it. The only complex component is the lid, but you can definitely simplify the decoration. For instance you can add a “glass” panel (like I shared in my previous post) or even fondant floral details in place of the fine line piping.

If you prefer not to make the box, the cookies still work well on their own, just the presentation will have less of an impact, for obvious reasons. The box is just too cool!

.
With Valentine’s Day over, I am forced to say goodbye to one of my favorite themes to decorate cookies, but as you know, I tend to re-visit the love issue throughout the year, so stay tuned!
