THE CHRISTMAS VERSION

Sometimes a cookie design makes me so happy I cannot stop smiling… This was one example. It all started with ChatGPT. I know, it is shocking, but I used it. I asked it to design an image involving a Dalmatian dog with a Christmas vibe. Here is what it generated, and I went to work right away piping the body of the pup with Royal icing, in different stages to give it proper lift.

Here are some of my puppies. I considered doing the black eye patch to mimic our Star Barker, but it did not look good, so I went with a more classic version.

I learned quite a bit with the piping, some pups looked better than others, but they all ended up in cookies. As my beloved husband says, don’t worry so much about it. Agreed.
The edge was made with the classic wet-on-wet that is so simple but nice. You pipe the zig-zag pattern in two tones of green, run the needle clockwise or counter-clockwise through the center, then add red dots.

I made a version with a gold background because I thought the white dog would be a bit more evident, but I like them both ways.

They do make a nice set if you couple with simpler cookies using a similar wreath.

Here is the little puppy waiting for Santa, wondering
whether he’s been naughty or nice…
