Halloween is over,
but cookie decorating goes on…

When I donate cookies for hospice workers and families, I like to make a single box with a theme. Last week I focused on woodland creatures, and maybe my favorite of this set was a trio of hedgehogs.

The reason I loved them so much? I made them after an AI-generated image found on Pinterest as if it was a real cookie. I decided to take matters into my own hands and turn that annoyingly perfect image into the real, edible thing. I made the body, the nose and paws as Royal icing transfers the day before. Then, it was a pretty straightforward process. Very happy with the outcome!

Here is the little guy gossiping with the squirrel…

.
THE SQUIRRELS

Super simple design, just two colors for the body, then a little white and black for the eyes. Fine line piping on the tail and little dots on the body are optional, but cute!
.
THE OWLS

I saw a similar cookie on Pinterest, thought the shape was so elegant and unusual, with a very modern flair. I did not have a cookie cutter, so I printed the image and cut by hand. Although not very many colors are needed, it is a little more labor intensive because of all the piping.

THE MUSHROOMS

I also cut the shape by hand, and used colors that would complement the owls. Very simple to decorate, particularly if you do the options to the left and right, that require no fine line piping.

That’s all for now, friends… I hope you enjoyed this little series…
