RIP, Halloween Candy!
The big day is finally here! I wasn’t able to share all the cookie designs I made this year, but I saved a special project for today. A bit challenging, but scary fun! It is a tridimensional coffin that works as a little box to hold candy. A real nice centerpiece type cookie, all designed and taught by Tunde Dugantsi (visit her cookie club clicking here).

Isn’t that a cool concept? First you start by baking and decorating the different pieces. Tunde sells a set of cutters to make the coffin, but she also provides templates so you can cut the cookies by hand.

Once the pieces are decorated and absolutely set – ideally do the assembly the day after you decorate them – you are ready to put the coffin together. I used air-brushing to paint the inside black, but that step is optional.

I had a few issues, but nothing serious enough to compromise the final product. It was a bit challenging to adjust the pieces for a nice fit. I bet if I do it again it would be much better… Practice is all!

Now all you have to do is fill the coffin with candy, and get the party started!

.
I wish you a great celebration tonight, hope your house is visited by plenty of kids, so get those bags of candy ready…
