Halloween does not have to be necessarily scary, you can definitely pick the “cute path” as I intend to prove with this post (read on). However, I cannot ignore the essence of the season, so let me start by presenting you with a set of Scary Bears, designed and demonstrated by Haniela just a week or so ago. I could not WAIT to bake and decorate them…

Are you terrified yet? My bears developed a zombi scare that was not quite planned, just materialized when I piped the eyes. I decided to roll with it… You can see the full Facebook live where Hani decorated the cookies clicking here.

Basically you paint the black for the eyes, the red for the knife cuts on his abused little body, then flood in sections. The nose-mouth area is a Royal icing transfer made the day before Final details are piping consistency black and food safe pen.

And now let’s move to the path of cuteness…
FRIENDLY GHOSTS WITH FLOWERS

I really love this design, inspired by something I saw on Pinterest. I flooded the cookie with Electric Green, when it set I piped the ghost body with white icing. Let that set also then added the flowers and bow with thick icing. Eyes, mouth, and details on the body were made with fine tip food safe pen.

LITTLE BLACK CATS

I used air brush and stencil to make the background, then piped the body of a black cat, adding silver little balls for the eyes. Super simple! You can even skip the stencil and just brush the edges with a little luster powder, maybe in gold or copper, to give it an aged look.
FRIENDLY GHOSTS MEET SPIDER

Another couple of super simple designs. The spider web is made using a fine tip black pen, and the body of he spider is piped with thick consistency Royal icing. For the ghosts, all you need is white icing, a little red for the tongue, and piping consistency black for outlining the mouth, but you could skip that step without compromising the cute factor.

Stay tuned for more, as we move towards one of the favorite holidays for cookie decorators!
