One of the most magnificent birds out there, peacocks and its feathers are great subjects for cookie and cake decorating. I will never forget the amazing concoction Nadiya made in the tent, a showstopper of a cake with countless feathers flowing down its side. Today I share a few cookies with a peacock motif, I hope you’ll like them.
HANIELA’S DESIGN

This beautiful cookie relies on a Royal icing transfer to be placed over the iced cookie. The full tutorial was demonstrated recently on a Facebook live, and her Patreon site, where you can find the appropriate template and more detailed instructions. You can read all about it in this blog post.

Using her template, you can pipe the feather component, and allow it to dry overnight. I actually had planned to make several cookies but to speed things up I put the parchment paper with the transfers in my dehydrator, just to realize that the paper was pushed up by the flow of air and only one could be used, all others got ruined when they hit the upper shelf of the dehydrator. Live and learn. Sharing so you don’t make this mistake…
FINE LINES OVER NAKED COOKIE

I’ve made these cookies earlier this year, and could have added the central component as a transfer, but did not think about it. This version is nice for those who prefer a more austere cookie as far as icing is concerned.

Once the fine line central perimeter is done, you can flood with blue and yellow wet-on-wet. Then complete the look with fine lines all around it.

FONDANT ON ROYAL ICED COOKIE

I used the exact same base as Hani’s design, then placed a fondant peacock made with a silicone mold, and painted with luster powder + vodka. Not everyone is in love with fondant, but it is a pretty cool look for a centerpiece cookie.
PEACOCK COLORS

Two different styles to decorate. Flooded with turquoise then Americolor gold and green dots added as wet-on-wet, or flooded with turquoise allowed to fully set, then add some lines with the contrasting colors. For these cookies, I opted for a border made with gold icing and painted with luster powder.
