Leave it to Haniela to make super realistic concrete texture on cookies… Such a cool method, that you can learn reading her blog post that also includes a video (click here). Once you have that background, you can do so many different designs over it, I share a few ideas today.

The technique is not complicated, just a few tones of gray icing, a little parchment paper to lay over the marbled, still wet icing, and then I like to use a Microplane to make the edges perfectly straight, as the icing always flows out the sides a bit. Some steps shown below.

Once the background is fully set, you can add Royal icing transfers to make a succulent garden…

Or use a stencil with Royal icing to add images…

Adding a bit of gold on the edges is optional. But I like that look quite a bit… I hope you consider adding this technique to your repertoire of cookie decorating methods. You can do the background in slightly different tones, to mimim marble or other types of stones. I will definitely re-visit this issue in the future, so stay tuned!
