For the month of July, Haniela set up a Pinterest board with ideas involving cute ladybugs and told her Patreon members to go have some cookie fun! You know me, I am up for ANYTHING as far as cookies are concerned… You can join Hani’s Patreon here, follow her Facebook lives for free here.

For these cookies I got inspiration from this illustration. I baked a large rectangular cookie and a small lady bug using a mini-cookie cutter, flooded the large cookie with white Royal icing, then glued the small cookie on top and proceeded to add all the details. Fondant flowers, piping consistency green for the wines, thick for the leaves, and piping consistency black for the legs and antennas.

I wanted to add a little gold to the edges but things got downhill fast, so one of the cookies got a full gold treatment for the background…

Moving on, Lady Bugs on turquoise background, three ways… I made Royal icing transfers for the little ladies, and added them to both designs. They were flooded with turquoise, and the black lines and green vine added right away after flooding. The little pink flower was made out of fondant with a silicone mold. The white little flowers I made myself with Sprinkle stencils (click here).

Another design on a large rectangular cookie for you…

Cookie was flooded with turquoise icing, once that set I piped all the details and glued the little royal icing transfers in lady bug shape. A fine tip food pen added the path and the legs and antennas.

A couple more designs… one involving a cookie flip. You will use a tulip cookie cutter turned upside down to make the lady bugs.

And another design with the red background, to show that sometimes all you need is to have a small collection of Royal icing transfers ready…

I hope you enjoyed this little adventure with Lady Bugs. For t here more examples from my past, visit these blog posts:
