One more amazing online class by Amy from @seriouslysweet, I am absolutely in love with all these cookies. To me, they are fun and adorable at the same time. Not terribly difficult to make but the class was labeled intermediate for good reason. Quite a few techniques involved.

LOOK AT THAT GINGERBREAD BOY AND GIRL! Aren’t they the cutest things ever? The most challenging step was making the folded fabric of the hats, but Amy has been teaching that trick in several of her online tutorials and I think I finally got the gist of it. I will now brag a bit. The wrapped candy they are holding was made from a mold in class, but I did not have the mold, so I channeled my inner Camille Claudel and sculpted them by hand from fondant (please, be kind). I was so chuffed.
First things first, all things ready for the class… Cookies, fondant pieces dried and painted, Royal icing in the different colors and consistencies…

Then, convince your pup that no, you cannot play tug-of-war with him until class is over…

Below, some of the steps to make the cookies. Drawing a sketch of the different areas of the ginger people, making the folded fabric for the hat, flooding all other areas sequentially. Quite a few steps, but the four cookies can be worked on at the same time and Amy makes it super efficient.

I am not sure which cookie was my favorite… The only thing I regret is having the skin color for the gingerbread a bit too dark, so there was not enough contrast between the red of the hat and the face. But the eyes were so cute, and not that difficult to make, thanks to Amy’s instruction. I was so in love with them, that I made another set of girls the following day (see the end of this post).

I also love the candy, such a clever way to decorate it with the effect of the wrapper using thick icing consistency and a petal piping tip.

I had a real sad thing happen in the end of the class. I was taking a picture of the Christmas tree cookie by itself and my cell phone fell on top of it. Honestly, I almost cried. It was such a gorgeous cookie! I had to re-make it, but made a small version. So here are the cookies made next day, inspired by this amazing class…
Three ginger girl friends…

And a small tree…

The girls crave some candy!

Thank you so much, Amy, this was yet another great online class, I learned so much!
