Florals, from two amazing cookie decorators, and a little extra contribution from yours truly…

In chronological order, the first floral I made from this group came from Amber’s tutorial in her cookie club (click here).

My cookie started from a cupcake shape, I shaved the top and the bottom part to make it look more like a flower pot. The coolest component: the piped violas. I must admit they were tricky to make and mine are considerably simplified compared to the ones Amber demonstrated. My goal is to one day master her design as planned. But I still love my little babies. The texture of the pot was created with an embossed parchment paper that I’ve had for a long time, a technique that is easy and effective.

Moving on, Haniela’s “Orchid” Cookies…

You are not going crazy, mine are not orchids, but simple piped flowers made with an 101 tip. Must admit a bit of a defeat in the cookie decorating universe, I could not make the orchids as designed by Hani. The tutorials are part of her Patreon site which you can join here. I still wanted to make the cookies, so once I threw in the towel concerning the orchids, I went with option B. I love the use of cookie crumbs to make the dirt inside the pot… Some of the steps are shown below, a truly great tutorial.

Finally, I share my most recent adventure, in which I used a nice tulip cookie shape with long stems and improvised my way through them, using several techniques.

I added some texture to the leaves by using thicker consistency icing and brushing the surface after it started to crust a bit. The flower component relied on painting thin icing in the center and then using normal consistency to pipe the two side petals. I used luster powder on all the colors to add more contrast. Some of the steps are shown below.

Florals are such a great design for this time of the year, I still hope to make the orchids work. Haniela gave me some tips to practice and I am almost ready to try it again, so stay tuned!

Am beginning to be totally lost finding descriptive words for your creations > ‘pretty’ simply won’t cut it 🙂 ! As all my spring gardens have been built on every-colour-possible pansies and violas – may I pick those today to say ‘ooh’ to your mastery! Trust you all had a warm and huggy Memorial Day.
