I learned this card game many years ago, and play it whenever we get together with some of our friends who love it too… I wanted to gift our friends Peter and Wanda a special holiday cookie to bring back memories of our games together, in which “for the most part” Wanda and I inflicted painful lessons on winning to our partners. That may or may not be accurate. Here’s to many more fun Euchre evenings in our future!

If you play the game, you know that once you had a hand like that one from the cookie, you can “go at it alone” and win that round without the help of your partner in crime. But since this is a cookie blog, I shall stick to decorating issues, not card playing.
It all started by making the set of cards. I opted for a very thin layer of fondant, rolled and cut with a small rectangular cookie with round edges.

That would be the center of a very large frame cookie, in this case I used gingerbread flavor.

The background was Tulip Red, cards added right after flooding. I advise you to make the fondant piece not more than 24 hours before using because it can dry a bit too much and be hard to lay flat on the surface of the icing.

Once that all set, I added decorations, all of them were Royal icing transfers… The edges were sprayed lightly with Taupe air-brush color for a little aged look. Voilà, your custom-designed cookie for Euchre aficionados is ready!
