I am on cloud nine myself! Love the arrangement of nine cookies to form a single set, and today I show you three ways to approach the concept.
SINGLE IMAGE COMPOSITION

Choose an image for all your cookies, that will fit in a square shape. The process is then pretty straightforward, although you will need to get the Royal icing in perfect consistency for some puffiness of the petals and butterfly, and also pipe some fine lines to finalize them. See some of the stages below.

NINE IMAGES TO FORM A PICTURE

I’ve used this type of design in the past, and never get tired of it. Pretty much anything goes, but I started from a flower shape stencil to guide the piping of the large flower in the central cookie. Piping is done in stages to preserve separation between petals and little flower buds.

.
NINE, ALL DIFFERENT

What ties them together is just the overall style. I used a patterned rolling pin, and then painted the images with luster powder + vodka. Below a little slideshow of their painting process.
I hope you enjoyed this trilogy that celebrates the number nine. The possibilities are pretty much endless, and of course, I will be following this path again in the future…
