Confession: this set of cookie cutters + embossers was a total impulse buy, but I do not regret it at all. You can use the embosser for fondant, rolled buttercream, molding chocolate, but I went with the first, simpler option. I used slightly different colors for the fondant and after sticking it to the cookie (with a little bit of corn syrup), I painted the details in two of the motifs (bats and pumpkin), kept the third one plain but gave it a little gold dust treatment.

First things first, this is the set I bought, from evilcakegenius.

Then all you have to do is dye some fondant (I used Renshaw) with the color of your choice, and roll it over the embossing piece. Pull it gently and glue to the cookie. I used luster powder from SugarArt mixed with vodka to paint the details. Simple and quite effective, I believe…

The cookies would look fine even without the painting, as you can see below.

But of course, adding paint to the details makes the whole thing more interesting.

Next I want to try the same set with two different colors of fondant so that the details will pop without the need for painting them. It is a bit tricky but this youtube shows how it’s done. So stay tuned!
