THE YEAR OF THE FIRE HORSE!
As you know, the Chinese zodiac repeats every 12 years, but something cool takes place on the Horse years: every 5 cycles it is a special kind, the FIRE HORSE, bringing incredible power and change. Sixty years ago we had it, but I was not making cookies then, so my apologies. Here I am to share a small contribution to this powerful event…

The idea for this design came from a series of cookies I made inspired by Amber, from @sweetambs. You can check them out here.
I flooded cookies with black icing and made the fire design leaving a space in the center for the horse stencil work.

For a couple of cookies I went with a marbled background of orange, red and yellow, and added the horse with black icing.

It is not easy for me to come up with a design on my own, but I am truly happy with my babies!

Next, I share a very cool design by Haniela (check full instructions for free watching this video).

It is considerably more involved: you need to use a stencil and delicate air-brushing to get the effect on the background. Pipe the eye and nose area quite carefully, and finally add the details with two colors icing and a little fondant for the coins. Haniela had a beautiful flower piped as a Royal icing transfer but I could not quite make t right. Pretty advanced piping!

.
I don’t think I will be around for the next Fire Horse, let’s hope the world in sixty years will be a better place…
