It is the season to celebrate love, so here I am with a small series of cookies to inspire you. All pretty simple and straightforward to decorate. Let’s start with cupcakes and hearts.

The hearts are probably the easiest kind of Valentine cookie. Pick three colors (I used red, pink and white) and use one to flood, two to pipe large dots in alternating tones all around the edge. Use a needle to pull through starting at the top right, bring it all around and do a nice little curve down when you reach the last dot.

The cupcakes are made in stages. First the bottom is flooded with pink and the little heart/flowers piped in red (dot) and green (straight horizontal line underneath). Pull with a needle to form the flower shape. I let that set and sprayed with PME luster pearl. Then the top is added with tip 1M and thick consistency white icing. Sprinkles are optional but why would you skip them?
Moving on, how about some coffee with those cupcakes?

I did not know where I was going with this design, improvised it from beginning to end, but I like the way they turned out. The heart on the left was piped with icing and coated with sanding sugar. The heart/button on the right was a Royal icing transfer from a previous project (see it here).

And since it is all about love today, let’s make it absolutely clear with a sweet statement…

I used a plaque shape that I love, from Tunde’s shop (she has many sizes), flooded with pink, added hearts with a stencil and air-brush, then used Royal icing transfers for the little flags.
Adding a little heart cookie makes it a pretty sweet set to give someone…

Love matters.
