Get ready for the Chinese New Year, arriving on January 29th! To celebrate, a beautiful set of cookies designed and demonstrated by Haniela during a recent live session. You can watch it clicking here, it is free and FUN…

I had cutters to fit all the shapes, except the little lantern, so I improvised with a mini cutter for a balloon and glued a little tail to it, as I show below.

This is a magical set, they go together perfectly and if you take your time and exercise a bit of patience, it won’t be too hard to decorate. Some fine line piping is required, and a bit of brush embroidery for the details on the snake. The parts that will be painted in gold were iced in gold or ivory to showcase the gold better. Here they are, finalized except for the final bling…

The painting with gold takes them to a whole other level. I cannot pick a favorite, love them all…

Make sure to watch Haniela’s video in case you want to make these cookies, and keep in mind that every Wednesday at noon (CST) she shows up for an hour of cookie decorating live on youtube.

I made a set of hearts to go with these cookies, since Valentine is also around the corner.

That’s all for now, friends! Thank you, Haniela, for yet another great tutorial…

Well, a big ‘hello’ from one born during the year of the pig 🙂 ! I do like your snakes . . they seem more interested in appearing glamorous than causing painful bites . . . and the fans are so invitingly romantic . . .
