I am beyond excited to talk about these cookies because they are the result of the very first online class taught by a fantastic cookie artist, Sonja Steblin. You can join her class visiting her website (click here). This technique is amazing and so unique! I was a bit intimidated at first, not sure I would be able to do it, but her instructions are flawless… I learned a lot of tips that helped me out quite a bit, including her method to check for consistency of icing for piping super fine lines. I am totally smitten by these cookies… Of course, since they are part of a paid class, I cannot divulge details. Below, some photos of the process.

It was hard for me to pick a favorite, I think it is a tie between this little guy…

and this sweet cardinal bird…

But they are all so cute and unusual, I can see this technique being applied to other designs… Valentine’s come to mind…

Sonja intends to make another video tutorial in the future and you can absolutely bet your money I will be joining! In fact, I can hardly wait!

Trust you to find something so different and interesting! Well, I like those white ones, especially the ‘bloom’! Looked up the talented lady . . . if one is interested – not too expensive in Australian dollars. . .
