A labor of love, yes, no doubt, but at the risk of repeating myself: so much fun!

First things first, you need the set of cutters, available from The Cheerful Baker, with a visit to her shop. Then, for the decoration I was guided by the one and only Hani, who decorated a regular, small nutcracker cookie with this unusual color motif and so many details… Check her video with all the step by step instructions clicking here. I had to modify a few of the details to accommodate for the different parts of my composite cookie and the space available, but overall they are pretty similar. Meet Franklin, in all its 15 inches glory!

The adventure starts by baking the cookies, some are cut twice with the same shape and inverted to give the mirror image. Then you ice all the different parts and let that set completely.

The fun begins with all the details: brushing with gold on the hat, adding fine lines, little gold confetti, and the facial details. As I said, SO MUCH FUN!

I hope you consider getting this set of cutters, or at least making a little nutcracker guy for your holiday table. Hani, time to thank you yet again for the inspiration and of course, all the encouragement you give me “behind the curtains”.
