I’ve just completed one more wonderful online class taught by Tunde Dugantsi, and I am so in love with this set! Two-dimensional piping in all their floral glory… To join her classes and have immediate access to all her videos, click here.

This adventure started with a little boo-boo on my part . By mistake, I read the supply list from a class that was not yet available, and when I watched the video to decorate my cookies I realized I had to do some major improvising. I used the wrong shape and size for some of the cookies. In the end it all worked ok, I just had to adjust the designs a bit. My favorite cookie was the single rose, with all sections piped in stages. Isn’t that a beautiful design? After the piping is set, a little bit of painting takes the whole thing to a higher level.

Some of the steps to prepare this set of cookies are shown below.

A mini-projector helped to add the basic outline to the cookie, using the templates provided by Tunde in the class as downloadable materials. I loved the techniques she demonstrated to make the rosettes either as 2D or wet-on-wet. This is the full set made in the class.

The two large plaques were the most involved, and I must say the one that gave me most trouble was the one below, using brush embroidery.

Tunde’s version is much more beautiful, she really composed a nice movement for each petal, I was a bit tentative and just could not mimic her style. I still love the cookie, don’t get me wrong, but there is room for improvement.

The dimensional rosettes are fun to make and really not hard at all, once you see Tunde making them. I will definitely incorporate them in designs in the future.

Tunde, a big thank you for yet another amazing adventure in cookie decorating! Maybe one day I can travel to join one of your classes “face-to-face”.
