From balloon cookie cutter to little fishes!
Love this flip, inspired by images I saw on Pinterest…

The starting point is a balloon cookie, that you turn to the side and go to work.

First things first, decide on the size you’d like for the eyes, and pipe those as Royal icing transfers, once set add a little black pupil. I made small ones for another project that I will share here soon.

Next pipe the body in two colors, adding some dots near the tail end for a bit more contrast. Pull the color from the head into the body with a needle.

Add the eye right away, then let that all set for a while.

Next add black details, the outline, fins, and tail. Those will be filled once the outline dries.

It is a good idea to start the black outline from the front where the mouth will be, so that any boo-boos at the joining of the lines will be hidden by the red mouth later. Fill the fins and tail, let it set and pipe some more black details over them.

Now, all you need to do is make some thick red icing and use a very small star shaped piping tip to add the mouth. You are done!

Stay tuned for more cookie flips, as I am having a blast with them!
