
Today I share with you four different styles of cookies, all painted using Michelle’s Sugarprism product, a little powder that mix like a dream into luscious colors, and tastes like vanilla! THE ABSTRACT MOON

This is a large cookie, 4 x 6 inches. I believe it makes it easier to paint, especially if painting does not come naturally for you. It is more forgiving. The class lasted a couple of hours and it was as usual a lot of fun. Me and a couple other daring folks painted it live as Michelle demonstrated. I am so thrilled with the outcome! Below some of the steps to make this beautiful cookie.

PURPLE LOVE

For these cookies, I applied a similar technique to the Abstract Moon just to make the background over a fully set white royal iced surface. Once Sugarprism dried, I either piped some little flowers with icing or used a dot stencil (I love this set) to spread thick consistency icing and form the mandala-type pattern. Easy peasy!

A PATH OF FLOWERS

These cookies were made using a mooncake plastic press (like this). I used a recipe without any leavening agent, and baked them from frozen to preserve the image as much as possible. Then I used Sugarprism to paint all the details.
STRIPES OF COLOR

Another design that uses no Royal icing (just a bit of fondant in the decoration, but you can also use modeling chocolate if fondant is not your thing). One way to make cookies with different colors is dividing portions of the dough and dyeing them, then rolling and assembling the different sections. With Sugarprism, you can paint the raw dough very easily after marking the edges of the stripes. I used a pastry cutter (this one). After painting, I cut the frame shape and baked the pieces. Steps are shown below.

I am totally smitten by this method, and will definitely apply it again to other shapes and motifs. Stay tuned!
