For the Love of Cookies

Two fun ideas to perk up your Cookie Holiday Season… A super modern take on Santa Claus, and a cute cookie composition of 8 reindeers circling Santa.

Let’s start with Modern Santa Puzzle…

You will need this cookie cutter set, although you can always improvise with cutters you already own, you might just have what is needed. The tricky component would be Santa’s hat, but you can always cut it by hand using a template. All red cookies were made with a stencil and air-brushing. The round circles for the beard were simply iced and then the decorative swirls sprinkled with sanding sugar.

The face was flooded with pink and next day I drew the eyes with a food safe pen, and added the eyebrows with thick icing and sanding sugar. A little pink luster powder for a healthy glow on the cheeks, and Santa was done!

And now for the super cute platter!

To make this platter happen, you will need this set of two cutters, from semisweet designs, a place that is temptation in cookie cutter shape (they also have stencils, so be prepared to splurge). It is a little bit of a labor of love, but take your time, divide the reindeer cookie in sections, and work one area at a time. Next day pipe the details (nose, antlers, dots on the top of the head). The eyes were PME pearls added when first flooding the face.

Don’t forget Rudolph and his red nose! I changed his color composition from green to red to make him even more special. This is a perfect set to offer for kids…

I cannot believe how fast this year is rushing by… I still have quite a few cookies to share (and a few to make) before the holiday season is over. So many cookies, so little time!
