POP-ART SPIDERS

This post is dedicated to all those people who are heart-broken because Halloween is over…

Aren’t these cookies absolutely adorable? How can spiders be adorable? I have no idea but Haniela managed to make them so. You can find her super detailed blog post about it with a click here. She used many colors, I simplified my life a bit and went with just pink. The cookies are not complicated to make, but to make them exactly as Haniela designed, you’ll need a stencil, air-brush, and piping fine lines. The spider body is best made as a Royal icing transfer the day before. I did not use a template, just eye-balled a body and small little head on top.

Have spider web shaped cookies baked and iced with the neon color of your choice….

Once fully set, air brush a dot pattern, using the same color as the background, just a bit darker.

Now you are ready to add all other bells and whistles….

To make the pop-art “feel”, the same stencil is used to apply thick Royal icing in black, just in some spots. Then white spider web is piped, and the body of the spider placed over it. Finally, the legs, with piping consistency black icing, and you are all done!

Well, this post REALLY closes the Halloween season, I am already counting the days for next year!
