This group of cookies was designed by Tunde last year, but only now I had a chance to make them. Check her site (click here) to join the Cookie Academy and gain access to many video tutorials uploaded since 2020.
That is such a nice set, absolutely perfect to give to kids going back to their teachers and schoolmates. Overall they are not too complicated to make, but the pencil and brush require piping some fine lines, then there is also the writing on the blackboard. For the watercolor palette, a stencil with a wood pattern is perfect, but you could also paint the wood grain with a brush and gel color.
I loved making them all, but my favorites are the two below…
For the blackboard I changed slightly the method. Instead of flooding the cookie, I just air-brushed the naked cookie with black and added the frame and details with Royal icing. I like the rough look that the cookie surface provided for that design. And don’t you love the little detail of the chalk sitting at the bottom left? Tunde is brilliant!
I also made a cookie on my own, in the same spirit of back to school, as students love to give apples to their teachers…
That is a very simple cookie to make, all wet-in-wet, some fine tip food safe pen for the black outline, and thick consistency brown icing for the stem, giving the cookie a little unexpected twist. I cannot take credit for the idea, I was inspired by a post from missypsweets.
