Definitely one of my favorite birds, we have so many around! This time of the year, we might see their bright red plumage against the bright white snow, and it is breathtakingly beautiful. Today I share one new cookie design, recently taught by Haniela during a live free tutorial, and bring back a couple of cardinals from my past. She demonstrated the male, and I decided to give him a female. She’s a bit naughty and at the present time cannot decide between two boyfriends.

If you want to make them, follow the super detailed instructions in the video by Hani, that you can find here (it is free, available for everyone). Her cookie cutter has a different shape, more plump than mine, so I had to do a few adjustments in the design.

For the female I used a little painting to give hints of red to her feathers….

And, finally, she tells me she did pick her partner! I think she made the right choice…

And now, for a couple from my past. One of my favorite projects ever, the Cardinal in a Tree made as a pizza box composite, as designed by Marlyn from Montreal Confections.

I loved making this set, and you can visit the post clicking here.
And closing this post, a super modern and fun take on the subject…

The shape was made by joining two different cutters, you can see all the details in my post here.
I hope that you get to make some of these, cardinals have special meaning to many people. I believe they can make a nice gift included in a cookie box in the holiday season…
