Another cookie shape I’ve had for the longest time and finally decided to play with. I won’t sugar-coat the pill, you will have to pipe some fine lines for this design, but take your time, it will be totally worth it. A few boo-boos here and there won’t be very noticeable as there is a lot going on to distract your eyes from detail (unless you are like me and inspect each cookie as if it is part of evidence in a crime scene).

I am really happy with the way these turned out. The pink is super light, and the details are not white, I used Americolor Avocado in extremely small amount. So it is more off-white with a tiny hint of green.

So let me walk you through the design… First, decide on the pink area to be flooded, and mark that on all cookies with a food safe pen, preferably very light in color (I used yellow).

That needs to set a bit, about 1 hour, so that all the piping can be done without hurting the surface. If you feel at all insecure, spread the decoration over two days, and add the details once the first flooding area is absolutely set.

Now start by adding 8 dots at the lower part of the arc, and pull lines towards the bottom center. Once that is done, add your decorating little ball and then 8 more little dots in between the first ones. Pipe the arcs on the external part of the pink flooded area, no need for precision, just try to do them about the same size and height. Add dots to the center.

Now add the final details on top of the pink flooded area. Just try to spread them nicely over the area, if needed, practice on a piece of parchment paper with the shape of the cookie sketched on it.

I hope you enjoyed this little set of cookies, I think they would be nice for a little afternoon tea party, or a bridal shower. Of course, you can take the basic design into a totally different territory using bright colors instead of pastel. I intend to play with this shape again soon…
