I have a weakness for cookie flips, in case you did not notice yet. In cookie decorating lingo, a cookie flip is using one shape to come up with a totally different image. Today I share cookies that celebrate bees, but start either from a flower or a heart shape. So. Much. Fun!
FLIP #1
FROM HEART TO BEE

Both designs today rely on painting the unbaked cookie with Americolor White to give the effect for the wings. In the case of the heart-shaped cookie, The wings go on both sides, leaving an empty space above and for the body. Once the cookie is baked, all you need to do is pipe the body, add the eyes, and pipe the details on the wings with white Royal icing. After the body is set, I used a food pen to draw all the details.

I love the way they turned out!

FLIP #2
FROM FLOWER TO BEE

Same concept for the wings, painting the unbaked cookie with Americolor White. Two opposing petals provide the head and body, details piped with black Royal icing, and finally a little luster powder for a little facial blush.

I am quite fond of this little bee too, not sure which design is my favorite…

Stay tuned for more cookie flips in the very near future!
