As I promised, two more designs out of the five made for the Baby Shower of our grandson to arrive next month… Today I share The Cactus and Taco ’bout a Baby…

THE CACTUS

The Cactus cookie was maybe the simplest of all, although it required piping quite a few thin lines once the base was set. To add a little more pizzazz to the design, I made red succulent type flowers with fondant, and added some tiny red sprinkles. The color was similar to the avocado from last post, I used Electric Green from Americolor with a tiny bit of yellow to brighten it up.
TACO ‘ABOUT A BABY

This set was quite a bit more involved. I started by making the small peppers as Royal icing transfers. I printed out tiny peppers on a piece of paper and used that as a template to pipe the red body of the pepper and the green top.

Then it was a matter of flooding the surface of the cookie, adding the peppers while the icing was soft. Once that set, all the details were piped with the same turquoise color and the writing with yellow and black. I first used a food safe pen to draw the letters, and then piped the icing. Some of the steps are shown below.

Maybe this was my second favorite cookie of this adventure…. Which one was my very favorite? You will get to see it on the final post, that will be published soon!
