CELEBRATIONS: AMY’S NEW ADVENTURE!

Last year I shared with you the monthly cookie set Gnome and Floral (flashback available here). For 2024 Amy has a new thing going: CELEBRATIONS! Each month a set of two cookies that celebrate a special occasion. January started with love and the Valentine’s theme. I adore this set, full of details that truly make it special.

Who would imagine making a box of chocolate covered cherries as a cookie? Well, Amy of course! Those are her Mom’s favorite thing, so the whole design is a declaration of love from daughter to mother, quite touching. As you probably know by now, I do not divulge the details that go in cookies made from paid tutorials, but below you see some of the steps. The box of cherries stole my heart, big time!

The little cherries were molded from fondant, and they got little golden stems and a coating with “chocolate” to make them look like the real thing. Yes, a labor of love, but totally worth it!

I would consider this project medium to advanced, but Amy’s instructions definitely make it doable for those just beginning their journey into cookie decorating. You will need to get the Royal icing consistency right, but other than that, she guides you through very smoothly.

I also loved the way she picked an unusual color to celebrate love, making this set unique and fun. Of course, the bows and cherries bring that mandatory red to play. Inspired by the beautiful blue, I made a couple of little hearts to tag along…

Amy, I am already smiling anticipating what the next 11 months will bring us!
