Are you ready for some serious cuteness? Of course Amy did not disappoint and brought the Halloween spirit in full gear for this set… I am totally in love with this gnome, ready to fly with his magical broom!

So many details to make this set! My favorite step was making the broom as a Royal icing transfer. The spider on the top of his hat is also a transfer. Some of the steps are shown in the composite picture below.

As usual, the piping for the beard is one of the steps I love the most, once you get the technique down, it works like a charm. Amy keeps teaching ways to place the swirls in different ways, so it seems to me each one of the many gnomes over the past year, are all unique in their facial hair component. And beards come in handy for Santa Claus too, let’s not forget that!

As to the floral, the purple roses were supposed to be made from Royal icing, using a technique that spins it around a toothpick. I failed miserably, I suppose the consistency of my icing was slightly off. I ran out of patience, and decided to cheat. Fondant it was!

I intend to practice that in the future, because the roses look very nice but for the time being, I am quite smitten with my little set!

I cannot believe that we only have two more sets left this year… Looking forward to November, thank you Amy for setting up this cool cookie project.
